That's how long I made it. Although I have to say that it was only my intention to do it for one day ... so, I did that. Not that I had any profound epiphanies ... but I was a good thing for me.
For me, fasting is about control. Me controlling the food, rather than the other way around. I find that if I do it once in a while (really I did it a year ago and now ... so it isn't like I do it regularly) I walk away feeling refreshed and more focused ... not on the food, but on what I need to do to take care of myself ... also it helps me to see what I am capable of ...
Because, as all you mom's out there know, it is easy to forget what we are capable of. When life consists of changing diapers, wiping noses, making 27 pb&j sandwiches a day, knowing more words to Doodlebops songs than Coldplay's ... trying to get dinner done after just washing up the lunch dishes .. and let's not even talk about ...

Ah well .. you see, I guess I am a little loopy, but can you blame me really?

I think of myself as being a relatively intelligent man who is open to a lot of different things and I think that questioning our purpose in life and the meaning of existence is something that we all go through at some point. -Laurence Fishburne

36 hours is a LONG TIME! I don't think I could last that long ... in fact, I know I couldn't. I can't even stay on the computer for 10 minutes without shoving some popcorn in my mouth ;)
That's still pretty impressive. I don't think I've ever done anything but a forced fast...which is the flu. I do have friends that do it regularly though and find such great benefits from it!
36 hours is a really long time, good for you for making it that far!
Congratulations!! I fasted (nothing but liquids) for 48 hours in December. Of course, I was hooked up to an IV and only allowed broth and jello. I also had a morphine pump and I wasn't hungry at all. No epiphanies or revelations there. LOL
Good job!
HEY! How'd you get that picture of my laundry room? (BTW- Typo-d room as tome! LMAO)
Read the Dr. Laura book and what she says about control. I was like "OMG! She is talking about me! OH MY! I AM doing that!" LMAO Sorry you said control that is what I thought of! LOL
I fast and detox alot. I always feel good afterwards. Umm, I think you have my laundry machine and dryer I have been drooling over....
Maybe next year, Fletch's surgery set us back a bit and we are going on a cruise for our year anniversary! So yeah there is nothing wrong with mine, I just love shiny NEW toys and electronics
Yikes, the only way I could fast would be if I was hooked up to some Morphine! I couldn't even make it one day through my detox diet. Makes me wonder how anorexic chicks do it. 36 hours is good enough. Anything else would probably be dangerous.
Swishy - it was a long time and computer time was the worst. I am a muncher too. Usually cheerio's .. but munchin' none the less.
Anne - It felt good, I think I would have felt better if I had done it for the remainder of the 2nd day, but I took vitamins and then I had to eat .. serious tummy issues.
Bre - Thanks. I think I will stick to once a year though :O)
Jen - Yea, the IV would have made it a wee bit easier ... especially w/the morphine, which usually makes me barf anyway .. although I am sure, like you there wouldn't be any grand revelations.
T - Room, tome, tomb, same difference .. well at least here.
I think I am gonna skip the book, sounds like see has too many things I SHOULD listen to but won't.
TTQ - Ummm, I would trade ... laundry equipment for a CRUISE. Please....I never, ever, ever, ever leave the farm.
Well, maybe not a cruise cuz I get very sea sick .. and not something that would require flying cuz I get air sick and really, I can't do a train, car or bus cuz .. yea, you guessed it - motion sickness.
hmmm. wonder why I never leave the farm?
Pru - I was actually sorta inspired by your January detox post. :O) It is what prompted me to try it again this year ...
